J. Marchand Knight, Research

J. is currently pursuing an individualized (INDI) PhD at Concordia University. Housed in the Psychology department, J. is studying the relationship of vocal timbre to gender perception. Their projected dissertation will seek to identitify the acoustic properties of the voice which listeners identify as masculine, feminine, or gender-neutral, examine how visual bias affects auditory perception, and offer concrete resources for trans inclusive voice training programs. J. holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Pedagogy from The University of Miami and a Master's of Opera Performance from McGill University.
